About Leo Kuelbs and Leo Kuelbs Collection

 

Curator Leo Kuelbs presented his first curated video art projection on the Manhattan Bridge in 2010.  Since then, he has curated the award winning video art + mapping shows “Immersive Surfaces” and “Codex Dynamic.”  Other large-scale curated public art projects include two in Dallas for the Aurora Arts Festival, both projected onto the Wyly Building, “Reflective/Perspective” at Frankfurt’s Deutsches Filmmuseum and multiple single channel programs.

Marketing events include two award-winning showcases (among five total) for Dom Perignon in Germany and the USA, all collaborations with digital animators Glowing Bulbs.  Further marketing projects include “The Diamond Sky” for Tiffany & Company at New York's famed Guggenheim Museum, also with Glowing Bulbs, along with artist John Ensor Parker, as well as projects for Volkswagen, NH Collection, and others.

Leo Kuelbs conceptualized and initiated the monthly LIGHT YEAR project on the Manhattan Bridge, running since 2015, as well as Mitte Media Festival, started in Berlin in 2017. 

The Leo Kuelbs Collection consists of over 100 video + sound art projects, mostly organized in curated groups, each conceptualized by Mr. Kuelbs.  Having begun collecting at age 20, The Leo Kuelbs Collection consists mostly of works by friends and colleagues, with highlights coming from his sister, Katherine K. Rogers, an early inspiration and the first collected work, as well as OLEK, Frank Gaard, Drew Simpson, Tomas Eller, David Medella, Warren MacKenzie, as well as a multitude of others, including lesser works by Juan Miro, Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall.

The Leo Kuelbs Collection’s mission is to bring artists together and present them on independent platforms fostering interconnectivity and understanding across all types of boundaries.  To this end, LKC has worked with well over 1000 artists from countries around the world and is always on the lookout for new, challenging, and diverse voices.
